About the Artist
Yanli (She/Her) is a Chinese-born, Vancouver-based visual artist working across painting, photography, and immersive art.
Her work is an exploration of the quiet relationships between nature, memory, emotion, and the unseen. Inspired by Eastern philosophy and the subtle beauty of everyday life, she creates contemplative works that invite stillness, curiosity, and reflection.
With a background in photographing live music for more than a decade and years of creating live art at electronic music festivals, Yanli has developed a practice that balances observation with intuition. Whether working in the solitude of her studio or responding to the energy of a shared space, she approaches each piece as a conversation rather than a conclusion.
Yanli believes that art is not only something to be seen, but something to be experienced. She doesn't seek to capture reality as it appears, but to express what a moment feels like—allowing emotion, atmosphere, and presence to emerge naturally through each work.
For Yanli, creativity is a way of paying attention. Every painting, photograph, and installation is an invitation to slow down, reconnect with ourselves and the natural world, and discover beauty in what often goes unnoticed.
